Virtual Kids Church - November 29, 2020

Welcome to Virtual Kids Church: Nov. 29, 2020

W E E K 5  - Elementary and PreTeen

Key Question: What helps you remember to be grateful? As kids get older, they can establish routines that help them remember certain things: brushing their teeth, eating healthy, and yes, even saying thank you. Throughout this lesson, we hope that kids discover ways that will help them remember to show gratitude in their everyday life.

We finish up the month in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 and Exodus 12. In 1 Corinthians 11, Paul talks about taking time out to celebrate Communion, or the Lord’s Supper.

When we drink the cup and eat the bread, we celebrate that Jesus lived and died, and rose again to make us right with God. As we think about what Paul wrote, we’ll take time to remember that this celebration is rooted in another rescue story where God lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt.

Bottom Line: Get in the habit of being grateful. People often focus on bad habits they need to stop. However, the best way to stop a bad habit is to replace it with a good one. Replace those sweets with healthy choices. Replace TV with exercise. Replace complaining with gratitude. We pray that kids will start to see that gratitude is a choice that God can help them make, especially when they remember all that Jesus did for us on the cross.

W E E K 5 - PreK

Story Focus: I can praise God because He is good. Grab your shakers for week five, because we are having a praise party! We want to lead our preschoolers in praising God, because God is good! It will be a special time when we read all of the leaves on our Thankful Trees, praise God for all He has done, and remember that God is good.

This week in Live Junior KC, the kids will be dedicating this week to Missions. The true missions story is about Iceland. The missionaries from Iceland were planning to go home for a furlough and ran into trouble on the flight. The story tells how they prayed and God miraculously helped the pilot to land the plane safely.

PreK Message Summary:

  • Bible Story Focus: I can thank God for good things. Every Good and Perfect Gift, James 1:17; Genesis 1

  • Memory Verse: “Give thanks to the Lord for he is good.” Psalm 107:1, NIV

  • Key Question: Who is good?

  • Bottom Line: God is good.

  • Basic Truth: God made me.
