Kids Church for Sunday, April 5, 2020

Hi Praise Kids parents and caregivers!

It’s a new month! It’s almost Easter! And that’s a pretty big deal.

For the Elementary kids, we are starting a new unit this week called "Upside Down" because Jesus pretty much changed EVERYTHING when He died on the cross and then came back to life. It’s like He turned the whole world upside down! He gave us the greatest example of humility by showing us what it looks to like put others first. He came to serve, not to BE served.

This week, we’ll be hearing about how Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane and thereby chose a path of humility that would bring life for everyone—but one that would cost Him everything. When He was praying in the garden, He prayed to God and asked for this whole thing to be skipped. He asked if it could all go away. But in the end, Jesus gave up what He wanted for the sake of God’s bigger plan. He chose to put US first when He allowed Himself to be arrested . . . and eventually, when He died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins. Because Jesus gave us the ultimate example of humility, putting US first, you and I can choose to follow His example by putting someone else’s needs above our own, by giving someone else what THEY want, not demanding that we get what WE want. It’s not easy. But with God’s help, we can choose to put others first.

  • Summary of Elementary Bible Story: The Way (Jesus Prays in Gethsemane) - Matthew 26:36-56 (Supporting: Luke 22:39-46)

  • Bottom Line: Put others first.

  • Memory Verse: Don’t do anything only to get ahead. Don’t do it because you are proud. Instead, be humble. Value others more than yourselves. Philippians 2:3 (NIrV)

  • Life Application: Humility—Putting others first by giving up what you think you deserve

  • Summary of PreK Bible Words: “I am alive for ever and ever!” Revelation 1:18, NIV Easter - Matthew 26:20-50; 27:1-2; 28:1-7

  • Bottom Line: Jesus is alive.

  • Basic Truth: Jesus wants to be my friend forever.

I've selected some brand new peppy songs for worship, that I think your kids will enjoy! They will not know the motions to these songs, but you can replay them over and over so they (and you) can learn them. Our cool-down song is an oldie but goodie. Many kids will use this song to kneel, close their eyes and focus on Him!

After the music and video lessons, you can use the attached materials to help take your family deeper into the lesson:

Lastly, I will be contacting you this week via ClassTag with additional resources to help prepare you during this holy week. If you are not receiving my notifications, please email me your email and cell phone # so I can add your child to my forum.
